Yair Rodriguez defeats BJ Penn at UFC Phoenix

The ‘Prodigy’ BJ Penn made his return to the octagon this Sunday at UFC Phoenix after two years away from the sport.

Having moved to train at Jackson/Winklejohn BJ Penn was serious about competing again and after a string of allegations and failed match ups Penn would finally take on the Mexican stand out star Yair Rodriguez.

In the opening of round two, Yair Rodriguez caught Penn with a combination that put BJ Penn on his back. In what had already been a one sided bout, Rodriguez dived in and finished the legend with a swarm of strikes.

“This was an amazing fight for me.” Rodriguez said in his post fight octagon interview. “I fought a legend here tonight, he deserves all the respect, more than the one that I give him and I want to say thank you so much BJ Penn for excepting a fight with me.”
