Megan Anderson is out of her title fight against Cris Cyborg at UFC 214 due to ‘personal reasons’ according to UFC.com. Invicta FC Batamweight Champion Tonya Evinger will step in as she moves up a weight class to 145lbs.
Evinger (19-5-1) won the Invicta FC Bantamweight title in 2015 when she beat Irene Aldana by TKO at Invicta FC 13. She is coming off a second round submission win over Yana Kunitskaya in a rematch. Their first fight was deemed a no contest after successfully appealing a controversial loss. This will be Evingers first fight at Featherweight and her debut in the UFC.
Cyborg (17-1-1) is coming off two TKO finishes since making the move over from Invicta FC to the UFC. Both bouts were at a catchweight of 140lbs due to being unable to make the Women’s Bantamweight limit. Cyborg gave up her Invicta FC title and will now finally fight for the vacant UFC title after missing out on fighting for the title previously due to her recovering from a previous weight cut.
This fight will be for the vacant UFC Featherweight title as former Featherweight Champion Germaine De Randamie was stripped of the title. This event is headlined by a UFC Light heavyweight Championship bout between the current Champion Daniel Cormier and the former champion Jon Jones.
