Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes exchange words

Valentina Shevchenko won by armbar at UFC On FOX 23 over Julianna Pena in Denver Colorado. Now earning herself a shot at the UFC Woman’s Bantamweight title she came face to face with the Champion Amanda Nunes again.

Shevchenko (14-2) suffered her last loss to Amanda Nunes back at UFC 196 last March by unanimous decision. This was Shevchenko’s second fight within the UFC after winning her debut by split decision over Sarah Kaufman. After their first meeting, Nunes went on to fight Meisha Tate at UFC 200 for the Woman’s Bantamweight title and won by first round submission.

“This fight was very important for me because it was one step before the title shot,” Shevchenko said backstage regarding her win over Pena. “I lost last time to Amanda but not because she was stronger than me, it was because of my own mistakes. I no, I manage it and I exactly know that the next fight, the next revenge it will be a totally different result.”

The two will meet again in a rematch but before they do, the pair exchanged some words in the octagon. “Im pretty sure the next fight will be title shot and Im very excited so much to take this belt.” Valentina Shevchenko said to the Champion.

“Your not going to do it,” Nunes replied. “We’re going to do it again and then Im going to finish you.”

Valentina Shevchenko said backstage that she is ready anytime, anywhere for her title match against the Champ Amanda Nunes, “I am ready to fight, five rounds, doesn’t matter,” she said. Watch her backstage interview with Megan Olivi below.
