Rory Macdonald vs Gegard Mousasi superfight set for Sep.29 in San Jose

ESPN has reported that Bellator Welterweight Champion Rory Macdonald will take on Bellator Middleweight Champion Gegard Mousasi in a superfight taking place Sep.29 in San Jose, California.

Gegard Mousasi (44-6-2) won the Bellator Middleweight title at Bellator 200 in May when he defeated former Champion Rafael Carvalho by first round TKO. Mousasi made the move over from the UFC having competed there since 2013. He made his Bellator debut at Bellator 185 in October wining by unanimous decision against Alexander Shelmenko.

Rory Macdonald (20-4) made his Bellator debut at Bellator 179 in May 2017 when he defeated Paul Daley by second round submission. He then went on to win the Bellator Welterweight title after defeating former Champion Douglas Lima at Bellator 192 this past January.

The fight will take place at Middleweight with the 185lbs title on the line. If Macdonald is successful then he will become the first champion in Bellator history to hold two belts at the same time.
