Robert Whittaker will defend his UFC middleweight title against Kelvin Gastelum Feb. 10 at UFC 234 in Australia.
The pair most recently starred in The Ultimate Fighter Season 28 as opposing coaches on the show. They will now go head to head, with the 185lbs title on the line.
Robert Whittaker (20-4) will make his first official title defence since capturing the interim title by defeating Yoel Romero at UFC 213 in 2017. He was later promoted to undisputed champion and was due to defend his title for the first time in a rematch against Yoel Romero at UFC 225, but Romero missed weight making it a non title fight.
Kelvin Gastelum (15-3-1) is currently coming off a split decision win over ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC 224 this past May. Previously to that, Gastelum had won a first round KO victory over Michael Bisping back in November last year. The win saw him back in the win column after suffering a submission loss to Chris Weidman.
This event will take place at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
