Renan Barao has an MMA record of 33-3 and a UFC record of 8-2. He became the UFC Interim Batamweight Champion in 2012 and held the title until his defeat at UFC 173 in 2014 to TJ Dillashaw. This was Barao’s first loss since his professional debut in 2005. His only two losses are to Dillashaw and along with a difficult weight cut no doubt played a part in his decision to move up to 145lbs. This will be the first time we see the former champ at this weight and the first time back from his second loss to Dillashaw in July last year.
Jeremy Stephens has an MMA record of 24-12 and a UFC record of 11-11. He is coming off a decision loss to Max Holloway at UFC 194 in December. Prior to that loss he had won a TKO victory over Dennis Bermudez at UFC 189. Stephens has won one out of his last four bouts but holds a KO victory over current UFC lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos back at UFC 91 in 2008.
This is currently the first fight announced for this card.
