This comes after a tough year for the former UFC Lightweight Champion after a dominant year in 2015. At the beginning of 2016 Dos Anjos was slated to take on the now Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor at UFC 196 in the month of March but had to withdraw with a broken foot.
Dos Anjos was then rescheduled to defend his title against Eddie Alvarez at UFC Fight Night 90 in Las Vegas July 7th, but ended up losing the fight in the first round via TKO.
His latest fight was a unanimous decision loss to top contender Tony Ferguson as UFC Fight Night 98 which put him on a 2 fight losing streak.
