Paul Daley spoke to MMA Crazy reporter Louise Green after the Bellator London Press Conference last week. There it was announced that Paul Daley will face former UFC Welterweight Rory MacDonald in the main event for Bellator London, May 19th.
Daley was first linked to a match up with fellow Brit MVP but Daley turned that down in favour of MacDonald.
“Well they offered me the MVP fight originally and it wasn’t a fight that would have title implications and I want to gear myself towards the belt and the rematch against Douglas Lima,” Daley said. “This was the second fight that was offered to me and it’s a fight that I accepted because beating Rory MacDonald will get me that rematch with Douglas Lima that I crave so it was an easy choice for me.”
Paul Daley fought the current Bellator Welterweight Champion when Bellator first came to London back in July last year. He lost the bout by unanimous decision which put a stop to his three fight win streak in the promotion. Lima went on to win the belt after winning that match and now Daley wants a second chance at beating him but this time in order to earn the Bellator Welterweight belt.
