The UFC have announced the co-main for UFC Fight Night Liverpool will be Neil Magny vs Gunnar Nelson. This event will take place at Echo Arena in Liverpool, May 27th as the UFC travels to the city for the very first time.

Neil Magny (20-6) is currently ranked No.9 in the Welterweight division. He is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Carlos Condit at UFC 219 in December. Previously to that Magny had suffered a loss to the former Welterweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 215 by first round submission. He is 13-5 in the UFC and 2-2 in his last four fights with both recent losses coming via first round stoppages.
Gunnar Nelson (16-3-1) is currently ranked No.13 in the Welterweight division and is coming off a first round KO loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night Glasgow in July. Previously to that Gunnar had won two consecutive bouts via second round submission with wins over Alan Jouban and Albert Tumenov. He is 7-3 in the UFC and also 2-2 in his last four fights.
“I’m very excited to be fighting in Liverpool,” Gunnar Nelson said in a statement. “It’s been a while since I last fought and I’m happy to have landed this fight. I’ve been working hard, and I’ve picked up lots of new things and sharpened some tools, which I’m looking forward to showing the fans in Liverpool on May 27th.”
This card is headlined by Liverpool’s own Darren Till and expected to take on Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson although this has not yet been confirmed by the UFC.
