With a long line of contenders emerging in the Middleweight division, Dana White has revealed that the fight is now off and Middleweight title contender Yoel Romero will get the next shot.
“I made this GSP fight, we did a press conference.” He told FOX Sports Australia. “The thing was suppose to happen in July. Michael Bisping is going to have to defend his title now. We are not waiting for GSP.”
Yoel Romero has been very vocal recently about sitting out to make way for GSP but Dana White agree’s that Romero deserves the next shot at the Middleweight title.
“He definitely deserves a title shot,” Dana White said. “He’s next in line. He’s the No.1 ranked guy in the world.”
“We’re not waiting for George St Pierre anymore. We’re moving on with the division, and Yoel Romero will get the next shot.”
This is great news for Yoel Romero and will be sure to resume the entertaining back and forth trash talk between him and Bisping. A date for this title fight is still due to be announced.
