Max Holloway earned himself a victory Sunday night at UFC Saskatoon over Charles Oliveira. It wasn’t the best end to the night as Charles Oliveira suffered an unexpected injury to his shoulder causing him to fall to the mat. Holloway followed up with some body shots which then lead to Herb Dean calling a stop to the bout at 1:39 of R1. It is not yet known what the cause of the injury is.
This win puts Holloway on a seven fight win streak which ties him with Jose Aldo for the longest streak in the division. It was clear when the fight against Holloway and Oliveira was announced that the winner would get a number one contenders match. With the title unification between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor happening at UFC 194, Max Holloway took to the mic to ask for a fight between himself and Frankie Edgar.
“People keep saying that this might be a title contention shot, but I believe that one guy deserves it and that’s Frankie Edgar so UFC why not go to Hawaii, Max Holloway Frankie Edgar Aloha Stadium next year lets do this”
