UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway is out of his title fight against Brian Ortega in the co-main event at UFC 226 this weekend.
The news was first reported by Ariel Helwani who posted a statement from Max Holloway’s management team stating that the Champ had been taken to hospital due to suffering concussion like symptoms.

This marks the third time in a row that Holloway has had to withdraw from a scheduled bout for various reasons. He was most recently forced to withdraw on short notice at UFC 223 back in April due to weight cutting issues.
At this time, the UFC will not look for a short notice replacement for Brian Ortega as he wishes to wait for Holloway. According to Lance Pugmire of the LA Times, the fight could be rebooked for UFC 227 in August depending on Holloway’s health.
