Mauricio Shogun Rua set to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 190 in Brazil

It was confirmed during the broadcast of UFC Fight Night 62 that two Pride veterans Mauricio Shogun Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira are set to do battle at UFC 190 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Saturday August 1. This card is headlined by UFC women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey who will be taking on Brazilian Bethe Correia.

This is not the first time that Shogun Rua and Nogueira will be squaring off as the two fought at Pride Critical Countdown in 2005. Shogun defeated Nogueira via unanimous decision in the quarter finals. Shogun went on to win the Pride Middleweight tournament by defeating Alistar Overeem in the semi finals and Ricardo Arona in the finals.

Shogun Rua is coming off a two fight losing streak with his most recent loss being against Ovince St Preux by TKO punches at UFC Fight Night 56 back in November 2014. Shogun will most definitely be looking to get a back within the winning column and with talks off him going to the middleweight division, he is in need of a win.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has not been as active as Shogun as he fought four times within the last four years and is coming off a devastating KO loss to current Light-Heavyweight contender Anthony Rumble Johnson at UFC on FOX 12.
