MMA Crazy reporter Louise Green spoke to The Ultimate Fighter Season 23’s Kate Jackson after her time on the show.
Hailing from Cornwall England, Kate Jackson started Karate at 15 years old and then Judo which lead her into grappling and eventually MMA. wanting to test herself, Kate went straight into fighting professionally due to the lack of amateur fights and had her first pro fight seven years ago.
Trying out for TUF Kate said she saw it as an opportunity too good to pass up. “Im really glad that it was a mixture of girls and guys” She said about life in the TUF house. “It didn’t look like it was particularly enjoyable in the all female season, a lot of that was because they had history with each other as well. But I think it made it a lot more chilled, we all got on fairly well, there were no major fallings out.”
Kate was a part of Claudia Gadelha’s blue team and was her second pick. “Getting the opportunity to learn from her and her coaching team was ideal” She said. Kate also talks about her past fight against the red team coach, current UFC champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk a couple of years ago. “Ive evolved an awful lot since then and so has she obviously” said Kate, but explains that being around her wasn’t such a big deal.
Kate describes her TUF experience as as one of the hardest things she has done, “I really pushed myself out of my comfort zone” she said. “I just want to keep going, keep improving, keep growing and fight the best opponents I can get matched against and hopefully keep winning”.
Kate Jackson will fight Ashley Yoder in the next episode of The Ultimate fighter 23 as the season draws to an end. Watch the full interview below.
