Jon Jones will defend his UFC Light Heavyweight title against Thiago Santos in the main event of UFC 239, July 6.
Jon Jones (24-1-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Anthony Smith at UFC 235 this past March. This was Jones first title defence since re-capturing the Light Heavyweight title at UFC 232 by defeating Alexander Gustafsson by TKO. Jones had spoken out on twitter recently, showing an interest in fighting former Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic, but it seems that his move up to Heavyweight will have to wait.
Thiago Santos (21-6) is coming off a TKO victory over Jan Blachowicz at UFC Prague back in February. Santos made the move up to 205lbs late last year and since then has won his last three bouts via stoppages.
This fight will headline UFC 239 at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, July 6. In the co-main event, two division women’s champion Amanda Nunes will defend her Bantamweight title against Holly Holm.
