Its has been confirmed by UFC President Dana White on ESPN that Jon Jones is set to take on Ovince Saint Preux for the Interim UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship in the main event at UFC 197 at the MGM in Las Vegas April 23rd. Jones was originally set to take on UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, but it was confirmed that he is out with a knee injury.
Jon Jones (21-1) has not fought since January last year after being stripped from the belt due to his involvement in a hit and Incident. In his last fight at UFC 182 he defeated Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision. He will make his long awaited return.
Ovince Saint Preux has a record of 19-7 and has won three out of his last four fights. Saint Preux’s most recent win ended via unanimous decision over Rafael ‘Feijão’ Cavalcante at UFC Fight Night 82 back in February of this 2016.
