UFC have confirmed that a vacant champion will be crowned as Joanna Jędrzejczyk will take on Valentina Shevchenko for the Flyweight Championship at UFC 231 in Toronto, Canada on December 8th.
This will be the forth time that Joanna Jędrzejczyk and Valentina Shevchenko will square off as both women previously competed against each other on three different occasions in Muay Thai where Shevchenko managed to come out on top with all of those victories.
Former UFC Strawweight Champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk has a MMA record of (15-2) and has won two of her last four fights. She holds notable wins over Jessica Andrade, Claudia Galdelha, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Carla Esparza. Jędrzejczyk’s latest win was against Tecia Torres where she won via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night Calgary this past July.
Former Bantamweight Contender Valentina Shevchenko has a MMA record of (15-3) and has won 3 of her last four fights in the UFC. One of those fights was a close split decision loss to current UFC Bantamweight Champions Amanda Nunes at UFC 215 back in September of 2017.
Current UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway is expected to take on Brian Ortega in the main event for UFC 231 but this has not yet been officially announced by the UFC.
