The UFC have confirmed that UFC Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and title contender Claudia Gadelha will coach the new season of The Ultimate Fighter.
The new season will feature a group of eight light heavyweights and eight strawweights who will compete for a UFC contract and the title of The Ultimate Fighter. The first episode will air on FOX Sports 1 Wednesday April 20th with a two hour season premiere airing at 10pm ET. The season finale will happen during International Fight Week in Las Vegas July 8th, one day before UFC 200 takes place.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk (11-0) is coming off a recent decision win over Valerie Letourneau at UFC 193 in Australia last November and will defend her Strawweight belt for the third time against title contender Claudia Gadelha. This will be the second time the two go at it after facing at UFC On FOX 13 in 2014 where Jedrzejczyk won the bout by a split decision. Since that fight against Gadelha, Jedrzejczyk then went on to win the strawweight belt after a one sided bout against former champion Carla Esparza.
Claudia Gadelha (13-1) has suffered her only loss to the Champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk in a split decision. After that fight Gadelha went on to win her next fight against Jessica Aguilar in a decision win at UFC 190 in 2015. Since then Gadelha had suffered an injury but will now get her first shot at the UFC Strawweight belt.
