Jimi Manuwa came away with a massive one punch KO victory over Corey Anderson in the main event at UFC London.
Headlining once more in front of his home town crowd, this time with the opposite result to last. “It didn’t really feel that much different but being in front of my home crowd I knew I had to soak it in and use the crowd as energy,” he told the media.
Jimi Manuwa knocked out Corey Anderson with a left hook, 3:05 into the opening round. “I knew that I was the better elite fighter than him tonight,” he said. “I knew I just had to take my time and he will make a mistake and I made him pay for it.”
Manuwa said in his post fight octagon interview with Dan Hardy that he wants the winner of the UFC Light Heavyweight title fight between the champion Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson next. But former champion Jon Jones is due to return in the summer and is another name that looms over the division. “Im not interested in Jon Jones,” Manuwa said. “Jon Jones takes steroids and he’s been banned for steroids. Before I was a big fan of Jon Jones, the things he’s done in the octagon and everything, but he’s been suspended for a year or something and he’s had issues before. He’s a great fighter and I respect him but he’s been done for steroids and that taints everything that he’s done. When he comes back Ill fight him no problem but Im focused on the belt right now and thats going to be the winner out of DC and Rumble Johnson.”
Jimi Manuwa said he would love to get a rematch against Rumble Johnson and is confident that he has corrected the mistakes he made when he fought him for the first time. But in the end, Manuwa doesn’t care who it is.
