Holly Holm vs Germaine De Randamie for the first Women’s UFC Featherweight Title

The UFC have announced that former UFC Woman’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm will face Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208 for the first Women’s Featherweight title.

The UFC have opened up a new weight class in the woman’s division, 145lbs. Holly Holm is a former boxing champion and won the UFC Bantamweight title in November 2015 at UFC 193 when she delivered a devastating knock out of the woman’s champion Ronda Rousey causing one of the biggest upsets in UFC history to date. Since that victory she has suffered two straight losses, loosing the belt to Miesha Tate at UFC 196. She will look to turn that around in a new weight division with hopes of being the first woman’s Bantamweight Champion.

Standing in her way is former Dutch kickboxing and Muay Thai champion Germaine De Randamie. She has two straight wins after suffering a loss in 2013 to the current Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes. She is currently 3-1 in the UFC.

Invicta Featherweight Champion Cyborg Justino has responded to this bout on Twitter. She has been campaigning for a woman’s Bantamweight division in the UFC. She reportedly turned down a fight against Holly Holm at Featherweight as she needed more time out to let her body recover from her previous weight cut to 140lbs in September.

This event will take place at the Barclays Centre Arena in Brooklyn, New York on February 11th.
