Alexander Gustafsson vs Glover Teixeira to Headline UFC Stockholm

The UFC today confirmed that Alexander Gustafsson will take on Glover Teixeira in the main event at UFC Fight Night Stockholm, May 28th
The pair had recently been matched up and was scheduled to face at UFC Fight Night 69 in Berlin, Germany back in June 2015 but Gustafsson was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.

Alexander Gustafsson (17-4) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jan Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night 93 in September. This was his return back to the octagon after having a year out after loosing to the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 192 for the title in October 2015. Previously to that, Gustafsson had suffered a nasty TKO loss by the hands of Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson in the main event in his home of Sweden in January 2015. Gustafsson was recently linked to a bout against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira due to take place this past November but he pulled out due to a another injury to his back.

Glover Teixeira (26-5) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jared Cannonier at UFC 208 this past February. Previously to that Glover had lost by first round KO to Anthony Johnson at UFC 202 in August. That loss had put a stop to his three fight win streak with all three of those wins coming via stoppages. Glover has lost one out of his last four wins and has a total of 15 wins via KO/TKO.

This bout will headline the UFC’s fifth return to Sweden. The last event held in Sweden was a stadium event and took place at the Tele2 Arena. This was the promotions second stadium event since UFC 129 and the first for European UFC fans.

This event will take place at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, May 28th.
