UFC President Dana White has announced that George St Pierre will make his long awaited return to the octagon against the current UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping some time this summer.
Dana White announced the news on Sports Centre but a date is still to be confirmed.
George St Pierre (25-2) recently resigned to the UFC after three years away from competition. GSP left the sport the UFC Welterweight Champion but later vacated the belt. His last fight was a split decision win over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in November 2013. GSP won the title for the first time in 2006, lost it to Matt Serra then regained it again in 2007. He has been undefeated in the UFC since that time with a total of nine successful title defences.
Michael Bisping (30-7) is the current UFC Middleweight Champion after winning the belt at UFC 199 when he defeated Luke Rockhold by KO. Since then, Bisping has gone on to successfully defend his belt against Dan Henderson in a rematch at UFC 204 this past October. He is currently on a five fight win streak with his last loss being to Luke Rockhold in their first bout back in 2014.
This bout will be for the UFC Middleweight title. A date will be announced shortly.
