Gegard Mousasi becomes the newest addition to the Bellator MMA roster

Gegard Mousasi becomes the newest addition to the Bellator MMA roster. He is following in the foot steps of Rory MacDonald, Lorenz Larkins and Ryan Bader who tested free agency and left the UFC to join Bellator MMA.

Gegard Mousasi told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour that he has signed a six-fight contract with the promotion and has an interest in fighting for the Bellator Middleweight title before moving up to Light Heavyweight to fight for that belt too. With Rory MacDonald previously expressing a desire to fight at multiple weight classes in Bellator, Gegard Mousasi says he is interested in a future match up with the Red King.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Gegard to the growing Bellator family,” Bellator President Scott Coker said. “He’s one of the most well-rounded fighters in all of MMA and can compete in multiple divisions, so that really opens up some exciting matchmaking opportunities for us and for the fans. We’re looking forward to having him compete on Spike very soon.”

Mousasi has previously worked alongside Scott Coker when competing in Strikeforce where he won the Light Heavyweight title back in 2009.

“I am looking forward to fighting in Bellator,” Mousasi said. “I have a long-standing relationship with Scott Coker that goes back many years. Be ready, I am coming after the Bellator middleweight championship.”
