Francis Ngannou “I have come far and I have one goal”

UFC Heavyweight Francis Ngannou spoke to the media during UFC Fight Night London. After coming off a massive KO win over Andrei Arlovski, Ngannou talks about his journey so far and his goal to reach Heavyweight gold.

Francis Ngannou has his eyes set on fighting top five Heavyweights Alistair Overeem or Fabricio Werdum next and believes a win over either one will get him a shot at the title. “Now I am (ranked) number five and if I fight someone in front of me I’ll probably have my title shot” he said.

Former Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was also another name in the mix for a shot at the title but with him now being out with an injury, Ngannou hopes the title will be around his waist before his return. “If Velasquez needs a couple of months, one year to recover then I think he’s going to come too late” he continued.

Having started in the sport only four years ago and making his way to the top of the division rather quickly, Ngannou admits that he still has a lot to learn but believes the skills he has already is enough to do something amazing.

With the looming title fight at UFC 211 between Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos, Ngannou predicts the former Heavyweight Champion Dos Santos to take away the win. “He is a legend of this division and to fight him would make me rise too and grow” he said.

UFC 211 takes places at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, May 13. Also on this card is a Women’s Strawweight title bout between the champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade.
