Two Heavyweights will go head to head when No.4 ranked Francis Ngannou takes on No.1 ranked Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 in Detroit.
Francis Ngannou called out Alistair Overeem when his fight with Junior Dos Santos at UFC 215 was cancelled due to Dos Santos being pulled for a potential anti doping violation. He called for Overeem to step in but the two will now meet this December 2nd.
Ngannou (10-1) is currently undefeated in the UFC with the only loss on his record being at the beginning of his career in 2013. Since that loss Ngannou has finished all of his fights within the second round, earning six wins by knock out. He is recently coming off a first round knock out win over Andrei Arlovski and has his eyes set on a title shot.
Alistair Overeem (43-15-1) is currently on a two fight win streak after losing to the current Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic by first round KO at UFC 203. He is coming off wins over Mark Hunt and former Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum.
This fight will serve as the co-main event with the headliner still to be announced.
