The UFC President Dana White has confirmed the main event for UFC 205 that will take place at Madison Square Gardens, November 12th in New York City. He made the announcement on ESPN.
After weeks of speculation, Conor McGregor will challenge the UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez for the Lightweight title. This will be the first UFC event in the city since the ban on MMA was lifted making it a historic one.
This will give Conor McGregor, who is currently the UFC Featherweight Champion an opportunity to become the first to hold two belts in two different weight classes at the same time.
UFC 205 will now consist of three title fights with UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley defending his belt against Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and the UFC Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her belt against fellow Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
