Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson has agreed to face Darren Till this May when the UFC comes to Liverpool for the very first time.
The UFC announced during the UFC Fight Night London Ceremonial Weigh Ins that the promotion would be heading to Liverpool with Darren Till as one half of the main event. Till had been campaigning for a matchup with ‘Wonderboy’ but had also mentioned names such as Jorge Masvidal, Gunnar Nelson and Kamaru Usman sparking speculation to who he would face next.
Darren Till (16-0-1) is currently undefeated in the UFC and in his professional career. He is coming off a spectacular performance against Donald Cerrone in the main event at UFC Fight Night Gdansk, winning the bout by first round TKO. Till won 10 out of his total wins by TKO/KO and sits at No. 7 in the Welterweight division.
Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson (14-2-1) is coming off an unanimous decision win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 this past November. Previously to that, Wonderboy had taken on the UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley in two consecutive bouts with the first resulting in a draw and then coming up short in the rematch, losing by majority decision. He is 9-2-1 in the UFC with his loss to the champ putting a stop to a seven fight win streak.
This event will take place at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, May 27th with Neil Magny vs Gunnar Nelson serving as the co-main event.
