It has been announced that Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier will defend his belt against top contender Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192, October 3rd in Houston Texas.
Daniel Cormier became the new Light Heavyweight Champion back in May at UFC 187 after defeating Anthony Johnson for the then vacant Light Heavyweight title. The previous champion Jon Jones was stripped of the belt due to his involvement in an hit and run felony.
Alexander Gustafsson has been given a second shot at the gold after coming close to beating former Champion Jon Jones back in September 2013 at UFC 165. He then went on to win his next bout before loosing to title contender Anthony Johnson in January in his hometown of Sweden.
Gustafsson will look to put that all aside as he attempts to stop Cormier and bring the title back to Europe. This will be Daniel Cormier’s first title defence and will headline the UFC 192 card announced for The Toyota Centre in Houston Texas on Sat October 3rd.
Ryan Bader vs Rashad Evans is the only other fight announced so far. Tickets go on sale July 31st.
