Daniel Cormier wants retirement fight against Brock Lesnar at UFC 235 in March

Daniel Cormier became the first two division champion to successfully defend one of his titles at UFC 230 this past weekend. He defeated Derrick Lewis by second round submission by rear naked choke, taking his record to 22-1-1.

After his win, Daniel Cormier re confirmed his desire to face Brock Lesnar next, who just recently re captured the WWE universal championship in Saudi Arabia.

“Brock Lesnar when you come, bring that brand new WWE title. I feel like being a WWE champion too, let’s go,” Daniel Cormier said in his post fight octagon interview. “Bring that belt if you’re going to come to my house.”

DC confirmed in the post fight press conference, this could well be his last fight as he has previously spoken about wanting to retire before the age of 40.

“That could be the retirement fight for old DC. That’s crazy right, when you start to think about it. Talk about having an opportunity to go out on an all time high,” he told the media. “Headlining in Vegas against Brock Lesnar before I turn 40, two weeks before my birthday and have my biggest fight, yeah it’s crazy.”

Cormier now wants to take some time off before stepping back into the octagon, “I’ve had a big year, probably one of my more active years I’ve had in a long time and it feels good to get my hand raised. It looks like March 2nd 2019 could be the last time you guys see me fight in the octagon.”

UFC 235 will take place March 2 at the TMobile arena in Las Vegas and if all goes to plan, will see Daniel Cormier defend his title for the last time against returning WWE superstar Brock Lesnar.
