Dana White says he has cut Yair Rodriguez for turning down fights

UFC President Dana White has told Lance Pugmire of the LA Times that he has cut UFC Featherweight Yair Rodriguez.

Currently 10-2 in the UFC Yair Rodriguez has been out of action since losing to Frankie Edgar by TKO (doctor stoppage) at UFC 211 in May last year. Dana White said that he offered Rodriguez two fights that were both turned down, the first against Ricardo Lamas and then to rising prospect Zabit Magomedsharipov .

“The guys off a year, rejects a fight with Lamas and then doesn’t want to fight a guy below him in the rankings ?” Dana White told the LA Times. “He can go somewhere else, we have no use for him.”

The fight recently offered against Zabit Magomedsharipov was for UFC 227 currently headlined by the Featherweight title fight against Champion Max Holloway and Brian Ortega.

“He calls that fake news, this is real news.”
