Ronda Rousey’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan spoke on the MMA Hour this past Monday for the first time since Ronda’s loss to the current Women’s UFC Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.
In the interview, Edmond Tarverdyan told Ariel Helwani that he was unsure if Ronda Rousey would ever return to the UFC but if she did, Cris Cyborg would be the opponent of choice. “That’s the one,” he said. “I want that fight. When I trained Ronda, I know Ronda could beat Cyborg. I know that. Cyborg is too slow.”
Cris Cyborg took to her instagram to respond to the comments. In her response, Cyborg said that she was not interested in fighting Ronda Rousey in the UFC but believes the WWE ring would be more suitable now. “If Ronda is wanting to make the fight for the fans, I would still be willing to give them it but I think it would be better to take place inside the WWE ring,” She said. “For her it gets her one step closer to Hollywood and for me it would be another exciting challenge and a chance to test my athletic ability. I also think this would be the best platform for Edmond as he is nothing but a joke of a coach!”
