It has been confirmed on UFC Tonight that Conor McGregor will take on Nate Diaz in a welterweight rematch in the main event at UFC 200. Also Jose Aldo will take on Frankie Edgar for the UFC Interim Featherweight Championship at UFC 200. Ariel Helwani initially broke the news on twitter before it was confirmed by the UFC just before the show aired. UFC 200 will take place July 9th at the brand new Tmobile Arena in Las Vegas.
This may come as a surprise to some many were hoping for Frankie Edgar to get the shot at Conor McGregor but that is no longer the case as McGregor has been confirmed in the main event to take on Diaz.
Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar (20-4-1) is coming off a five fight win streak, most recently defeating Chad Mendes via KO in round 1 back in December of 2015.
Former Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo has a MMA record of 25–2 and has won three out of his last four fights. His latest fight was a loss via KO punch in round 1 to the current Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor at UFC 194 this past December.
