Conor McGregor puts an end to Floyd Mayweather rematch rumours

Conor McGregor has put a stop to any recent rumours circulating about a possible rematch against Floyd Mayweather. The rumours started when the two put out a series of social media posts going at each other re-hashing their so called rivalry stemming back to their super fight back in august 2017. These social media posts included pictures of Floyd Mayweather stepping into an octagon with hints of a rematch in the works that could possibly take place in McGregor’s territory this time.

But if you hoped to see a rematch between the two stars then it seems to be out of the question (for now) as Conor McGregor suggests that Mayweather has gone back into retirement once more.

I am happy for Floyd and his recent announcement that he is out of these current fight negotiations.
It is the reason I never seeked the rematch in the first place. I was happy for him in retirement.
My game is a very unforgiving one. It is not like other games.
I understand completely him staying retired. I will now carry on in my negotiations and see where it goes.
Have a great retirement Junior.
Now come here and give your old man a hug for old times sake. I’m proud of you son.
Yours truly,

Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since losing to Floyd Mayweather and it has been unclear when and if the Notorious will be stripped of his lightweight title. As he says in his post he is to carry on fight negotiations and with recent social media posts suggesting he is back in training, only time will tell when he will make his return.
