It was confirmed by The Sun newspaper MMA correspondent Simon Head today that Brad Pickett will take on Thomas Almeida at UFC 189 in Las Vegas July 11th, a card headlined by Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
Brad Pickett has a record of 24-10. Pickett will be making his return to the Bantamweight division after he set his sights on the Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson who he holds a notable win over. Pickett has won one out of his last 3 fights at Flyweight, with his most recent loss being to Chico Camus via split decision at UFC Fight Night 57 back in November.
The undefeated Brazilian Thomas Almeida has a record of 19-0 with only one fight going the distance. Almedia’s latest fight was a few weeks ago at UFC 186 in Montreal where he defeated Yves Jabouin via TKO punches in the first round.
