BJ Penn to be inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame

It was confirmed by the UFC during the UFC 187 prelim broadcast that BJ Penn will be apart of the UFC Hall of Fame class of 2015.

BJ Penn will be inducted into the modern era wing of the UFC Hall of Fame for fighters who began their careers after the 17th November 2000.

“It is our honor to induct BJ Penn into the UFC Hall of Fame. He was one of those stars who helped build the UFC,” UFC President Dana White said in a press release. “When we bought this company, we were told no-one cared about lightweights. BJ Penn not only made people care, he was one of the biggest draws in UFC history. And what he accomplished inside the Octagon speaks for itself – he is one of only two people to win two UFC titles in two different divisions and he beat a who’s who of his era. He is a legend and a no-brainer for the UFC Hall of Fame.”

The Prodigy BJ Penn is a former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight Champion and has a MMA record of 16-10-2. He holds notable wins over Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, Diego Sanchez, and Kenny Florian just to name a few.

The UFC induction ceremony will be apart of the International fight week for UFC 189 Aldo vs McGregor 11th July.
