It has been announced that former UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will take on Max Holloway in a featherweight bout in the co-main event at UFC 206 this December.
Anthony Pettis has an MMA record of 19-5 and a UFC record of 6-4. A former WEC Champion, he won the UFC Lightweight championship back at UFC 164 in 2013 when he submitted Benson Henderson in the first round. He made a successful title defence against Gibert Melendez before loosing it to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 185 in 2015. Since loosing the belt he suffered a total of three losses in a row to current Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barboza. However Pettis made his featherweight debut in august of this year and won by submission over Charles Oliveira. Pettis now staying at featherweight for the near future will be looking to keep a win streak going.
Max Holloway has an MMA record of 16-3 and a UFC record of 12-3. His last loss was to Conor McGregor at UFC Fight Night 26 in 2013. he lost the bout by decision and has not lost since. He has a winning streak of 9 wins, 6 of them by finishes. His most recent win was a decision victory over Ricardo Lamas at UFC 199 in June. Determined to get a shot at the UFC featherweight belt, a win over a former champion Anthony Pettis he will hope will get him one step closer.
UFC 206 is headlined by a UFC Light heavyweight title fight between the champion Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. This event will take place at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada.
