Its has been confirmed on UFC Tonight that two lightweights will clash as former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis is set to take on Edson Barboza at UFC 197 in Las Vegas at the MGM April 23rd. This card will be headlined by UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier who will take on Jon Jones.
The former UFC/WEC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis has a MMA record of 18–4 and has won two out of his last four fights. Pettis holds notable wins over Gilbert Melendez, Benson Henderson, Jeremy Stephens, Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon. His latest fight was a lightweight bout against Eddie Alvarez where he lost a via split decision at UFC Fight Night 81 this past April.
Edson Barboza has a MMA record of 16-4 and has won two out of his last four fights. Barboza holds notable wins over Paul Felder, Ross Pearson, Bobby Green and Evan Dunham. His latest fight was a loss to Tony Ferguson via Submission (D’Arce choke) in round 2 at the TUF 22 Finale in December of 2015.
